And we are off!

Hard to believe that 6 months ago we decided to start planning a trip around the world and here we are, just days before take-off, sitting in an empty apartment, enjoying our “last supper” (in-n-out: a must as a final meal in CA) and figuring out our final to do’s!

The apartment has been rented, the furniture sold, personal belongings moved (thanks,Matt!), the jobs are now a distant memory as we spend the next 48 hours running around with our heads cut off trying to “finish” anything and everything on the never ending to do list (who knew there was so much to do when you pack your lives away)?

Going on this trip has been a dream of ours (independent of each other) for the past 10+ years.  So far, we have planned the first 18 days and after that, we are hitting the open roads.  The trip will start on December 2, 2014 in Lima, Peru, followed by an over night bus to Arequipa for a few days, then to Cusco to acclimatize as we get ready for the 4 day Machu Picchu trek with Alpaca Expeditions.  Shall we survive the trek, on December 18th, we are off to Buenos Aires, Argentina, where my (Alina’s) family has offered us a place to stay for a while.  The tentative plan is to spend 3-4 months in S. America, then another 3-4 months in SE Asia and then a road trip through the US the rest of the time (this plan is subject to change, so please do not hold us accountable) 🙂 !

We don’t know how long we will be gone for (maybe 6 months, maybe 1 year); whatever the length, we will be chronicling our adventures here!  Stay tuned!
